After 21 years as a salesman for other furniture companies in Marshall and Waco, he decided he could do better for his family by starting his own business than he could by selling on the floor for someone else. He made the new company's very first sale while he was unloading the first truckload of goods that had arrived from one of his vendors. He sold that sofa right there off the street. Although he had a real knack for sales, he always felt that customer service was the most important part of any successful business. Since that time, our location has changed, the quality of goods we carry has changed (for the better), and the times have changed, but the ideals that Hugh held for his company have remained the same; DuBois Furniture is in business to satisfy you, our Customer. James DuBois joined his father, Hugh, in the business in 1968, and since that time, under his leadership, DuBois Furniture has grown to be respected as one of the outstanding independent furniture retailers in Texas. One that, on numerous occasions, has been recognized and awarded for the quality of its personnel, its high levels of customer service and satisfaction, and its reputation in the community. We have always been a family owned and operated company, and hope that we always will be. Michael DuBois, James's son joined the family business in 2000 and working together, the two men have been able to grow the business to new levels, expanding into new markets in 2004 by opening a second location in Temple, Texas.
