The company began in early 2014 as husband and wife creative team, Phillip and Jackie Wachter, began to pursue their passion to create quality products that are ethically made here in the United States. What started simply as a side project, making handbags and accessories out of their home, quickly turned into a bustling creative studio in downtown Cleveland, now employing 46 team members and counting. The word FOUNT was found in a cover of the hymn "Come, Thou FOUNT of Every Blessing" by the musician Sufjan Stevens. The meaning of the word FOUNT is "An abundant source of desirable quality. That is exactly what we are striving to be as a brand; quality in every sense of the word. At FOUNT, we aspire to create every product with the utmost thought and attention to detail. We make our leather products from the highest grade of full grain leather, free of plastic or vinyl top coating, so that our leather develops a rich patina over time and gets better with age. We use solid brass hardware on all of our designs and utilize technical sewing methods, with the intention of making our products heirloom in nature. It is very important to us that we, as a team, feel proud of the products that we are delivering to you. As a brand, we are striving to be a key player in reviving the fashion industry here in the United States, furthermore, Cleveland, Ohio. This is a challenge, as most Americans have become accustomed to the fast fashion culture and industry that we are surrounded by today. We believe in creating ethically made goods and paying workers fair wages, and we hope to educate our clients on the importance of this. At FOUNT, we make every effort to provide our team members with a quality work experience and environment where they can enjoy the work of their hands and the company of their co-workers.
