NINTERNATIONAL SEAFOODS OF ALA

ISA was founded in 1978 in Kodiak, Alaska with a vision toward better and more complete utilization of the bountiful ocean resources that populate the vast Gulf of Alaska. Integral in this founding vision was a sense of duty and stewardship in not only using these resources, but also toward preserving them. ISA's founders believe that the many blessings of the world's oceans are key to solving world hunger and providing a healthier diet. As the center of fishing activities for the Gulf of Alaska, Kodiak is a perfect location for ISA. Both fishing and seafood processing are economic mainstays for this island in the North Pacific. Kodiak's fishing industry is one of the most diverse and oldest in Alaska, dating back to the early 1800s when the Russians built the first salmon processing plant in a small village at the southern end of Kodiak Island. Kodiak is consistently one of the top fishing ports in the U.S. in terms of value and volume of seafood landed. Plants such as ISA's which are located at port are more commonly referred to as shorebased processors. This allows us to take delivery of fresh fish right off the fishing boats, and then quickly clean, grade, process and package insuring seafood processed at the peak of freshness. ISA had the distinction of being the first shorebased processor in Alaska certified to produce U.S.D.C. Grade A seafood, producing fish fillets and blocks of exceptional quality. As well, ISA has the largest cold storage in Kodiak, with a capacity of 1.2 million pounds. Our customers can also be assured they enjoy products from one of the most productive, sustainable, clean and precisely managed fisheries in the world. Alaska is the only state in the U.S. with a constitutional mandate stipulating all fish "be utilized, developed and maintained on the sustained yield principle. The methods utilized for managing and maintaining Alaska's fisheries continues to serve as a model around the globe.
