PONDOK ABANG

The company was formed by Mr Abdul Rahman who had started doing food business by selling Indian Pastries on his motorcycle in the early 80s after his full time job as a driver to better support his family. With the full encouragement of his wife Mdm Kalsom Bee, he ventured into stall operations in the Jurong West estates by selling all types of local delicacies such as Rojak (Fruit Salad with Shrimp Paste). His Rojak dishes were such a big hit among residents which earned him the nickname "Abang Rojak". The business was then shifted to Clementi estate, and he named his new stall Abang Muslim Food which had a full menu of local Malay dishes which was to be cooked by his wife Mdm Kalsom. The couple's ability to provide delicious Authentic Malay Food Made Traditionally attracted many customers from all over Singapore. One of the famous dishes available was the Authentic Nasi Lemak Pandan which was featured in the local newspaper as one of the best Nasi Lemak in town. In 2006, Mr Abdul Rahman expanded his stall operation by opening up a second outlet at Changi Village and officially renaming his business to Pondok Abang. By 2008, Mr Abdul Rahman had closed the second outlet and instead acquired a new food manufacturing factory in Jurong Food Hub with the goal of setting up a central kitchen where he is able to mass manufacture Pondok Abang's Authentic Malay Food Made Traditionally and deliver it island-wide in form of Halal Processed Frozen Food. In 2015, The company had received their Licence for Import and Export. Halal frozen food items were immediately brought in from abroad meant for wholesale and further manufacturing. Pondok Abang continues to expand its product line and developed a new brand named Lazeez with the objective to expand its cuisine line and export the products worldwide. Insights
