Founded in 1973 as a small rolling mill that produced FLAT BAR and SQUARE BAR, P.T Bhirawa Steel was one of the original steel mills in Indonesia. At that time the steel industry was still in the infant stage and most of the steel demands were met through imports. Due to a sharp increase of the local demand and the fast development of the country; in a span of seven years we had two major expansion projects culminating in multifold production capacity. Along with increasing our capacity, we also strived constantly to improve our quallty. Now, we are known as one of the best Steel Bar manufacturers in the country. Until the late 1980's we concentrated only on the local market. However, in line with the country's policy to increase non-oil & gas exports, Bhirawa made a humble beginning in the export business. In 1989, we began exporting FLAT BAR to the Middle East market. Due to our products' quality and prompt delivery schedules, within a short period of two years, we exported most of our capacity to meet new demands from several countries. To meet with these additional demands of the international market as well as to provide the existing local market, we had two phases of revamping our mill in 1992 and 1996. The new full tandem mill's reheating furnace has a capacity of 50 Tons Billet/hour, which allows the plant to produce a total of 250,000 MT annually of various qualities of ROUND BAR, SHAFT BAR, HEXAGON BAR, DEFORMED BAR, FLAT BAR, and ANGLE BAR from low carbon up to high carbon grade. We installed the latest state-of-the-art plant equipments from various well known vendors. Today, our mill meets the world standard of quality and cost. In fact, we obtained ISO 9000 certification in October 2000 and at present, are in the process of upgrading to ISO 9000 version 2000.
